Dementia is rarely reversible, but sometimes a diagnosis can be wrong, or the incapacity is temporary, such as when someone is disoriented while ill and hospitalized. If you believe the diagnosis was in error, it would make sense for your loved one to have an evaluation conducted by a neuropsychologist.
